New website and the use of a domain I own

    Hi!

    I tried to create a new website here on wordpress.com. I have my own domain frihals.no, but it was temporarely not possible to use .no on wordpress.com

    I really need to use that domain on my new website and I also want to use wordpress.com as my platform. I also don’t know which plan I should use. I think I understand that the best plan for me is Personal. I want to share my audios and videos. Is that possible on that plan?

    Hello Richard,

    I believe you may need to upgrade to a Premium plan based on what you have mentioned above. Please take a look on the link below for the plan features.

    Choose a WordPress.com Plan

    Also, audio and videos works on a Premium plan.

    Who told you that? We don’t support registrations or transfers for .no domains, but nothing prevents you from using a .no domain with a WordPress.com site via our domain mapping upgrade. We’ve never blocked .no domains specifically from being used in this way, so whoever told you you can’t provided you with incorrect information.

    We do not support domain names containing special characters, of which Norwegian has a few, but frihals.no does not contain any special characters, so you’ll be able to use it here.

    All of our paid plans include one free domain which you can use to connect a domain you already own somewhere else.

    With audio and video it depends: Do you want to upload the files directly to your media library, or are you find with embedding it from external services like Youtube or Vimeo? The Personal Plan allows you to upload audio files directly to the library, but to do the same for video will require at least the Premium Plan.

    Incoming transfers for .no domains aren’t currently supported but domains using this extension can be connected to WordPress.com with domain mapping:

    Our paid plans include one domain credit which could cover the cost of mapping the domain to your site.

    I want to share my audios and videos. Is that possible on that plan?

    Audio files can be uploaded to sites using the Personal, Premium or Business plans.

    Uploading video files is only supported on Premium and Business plans. However, you also have the option to embed videos from other services so that could be a good alternative if you would prefer to purchase the Personal plan.
