New Website & Domains

    Hello! I’m going to build a new website. My current site is built in Wix. The domain was purchased under Hostmonster. If I build my new site in WordPress, should I transfer the ownership of the domain from Hostmonster to WordPress? Or leave it alone?

    Hi there,

    It’s completely up to you. Transferring the domain here is simpler in the long run if you ask me, though, as then you can manage your domain and site in one place.

    Leave that until last, though. Build your new site at the free WordPress.com address we provide, and only transfer the domain here once you’re ready to take the Wix site offline.

    Also note that transferring or mapping a domain to us requires a paid plan for your WordPress.com site.
