New website, what plan?

Hi there, I am looking to build a website and am not sure what plan I need? I’d need to create a App that is linked to the website as this will be the key tool that users will be able to use. The website and app will need to be able to record and store peoples songs, like soundcloud.
Any help on what I should select to get started would be great. Regards Ben -

We do provide you with the tools you need to create your own custom website, but to clarify we do not provide developer support for creating an app (not a website) and connecting that app to our service. If you are not sure how to do that I would definitely recommend hiring a developer with experience creating apps.
As far as the site itself goes, I’m not sure we’re a good fit either. You may wish to consider our Business plan, which gives your site 200GB in storage space, as well as the ability to upload any plugin or theme “designed for WordPress” but if you are trying to create an online streaming music service (where you would be storing user audio on the site directly) 200GB is likely not sufficient, and you would fill it up pretty quickly.
Instead if you are looking for a good web host for your self-hosted site, we recommend the following providers, who all offer easy-to-use wizards to help you get your first WordPress site set up and running:
That said, most major web hosting providers will work, so you can just ask if the one you are interested in supports WordPress, and definitely confirm they will offer enough storage space for your intended use. You will probably need several Terabytes as a starting point.

Can you just clarify why I would need to pay for say Bluehost to host the website and not use WordPress for this?
To start off with I may not need a huge amount of storage, depending on how things progress so could start small and scale up later?

As staff-totoro mentioned though, you may find WordPress.com a bit limiting for your particular project. You will not be able to purchase more storage in the future, so if you reach 200GB, you’ll need to move your site elsewhere to keep uploading more media files.

Thanks, so can I start on the personal plan as it will all be work in progress before I get to a stage where I can ask users to start trying it out.
As I’ll need an APP I’ve read that this can be created in AppPresser, is that good?

Since using plugins here requires a paid Business Plan, you’re not likely to find many folks who can offer a recommendation.
Because of this, if you’re looking for app plugin recommendations, I recommend asking over at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/miscellaneous/ instead.
