We aren’t allowed to use technical support forums threads for that purpose. Discussion and polls of this nature take place on blogs. They do not take place here. Create and publish a blog post on your blog please. Then to advertise your blog post and promote it please use social networks as that is what they are for. These are strictly support forums and posting anything here other than technical support issues means it will be treated as spam.

You can use tag search to locate other WordPress.com hosted blogs on this subject https://wordpress.com/tag/travel

Sorry. I thought the forum was the place to ask this.

No problem and best wishes with your site.

  • Hey there,

We aren’t allowed to use technical support forums threads for that purpose.

Actually there are quite a few discussions about our products here. While we definitely don’t allow spam, these forums are as much for the community as they are for support.

If you can point us to the documentation that made you feel like these discussions aren’t allowed, we’ll get it updated. Thanks @thimetheif.

  • and @kwolf114 — they’re actually meant to be as much like each other as possible!

I do think I like the previews in the desktop apps better, since you can preview for phones, tablets, or desktops.

It’s my opinion which is not going to change any time soon, if ever, is that the correct place to post feedback on any new WordPress.COM feature is in the announcements of the feature.
    https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2015/12/09/the-new-wordpress-com-app-for-windows-is-here/

Fishing expedition threads like this one are not a substitute for blogging it and running an actual poll in the post on one’s own site and promoting in in social networks.

Moreover, if Staff want feedback on any feature then let them post such threads after they respond to all the posts made in the last thread of that nature that they posted https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/editor-feedback?replies=739

  • Ah, okay, I was confused by the “we are not allowed” part — I thought you must be referring to an official policy of ours, which would definitely need some updating.

Oh there was a time when we had both Blog promotion forums and Off topic Forums and they turned into nightmare forums full of spam and scamming and insults. Staff spent so much time editing removals in the threads that the forums were finally closed down – alleluia! Thereafter time passed and the Ideas Forum specs were changed to accommodate discussion.

Just imagine what it would be like if we bloggers used thread here to conduct polls in so we could use the results as blog fodder. It would defeat the purpose of having a blog at all.

Meanwhile the Staff blog posts that the feature announcement were made in would lack the relevant feedback that ought to have been posted there in full public view.

If fishing expedition threads ie. polls for the purpose of creating blog fodder are going to be allowed then without any sweat at all I could run with that in a way that would leave some breathless.

Alternatively, I could choose to politely derail everyone of the fishing expedition threads without ever breaching the forum code of conduct.

Bottom line: Allowing those threads here is a very bad idea and I do not wish to be tempted to demonstrate where that could and would lead to.

  • Thanks for your feedback. :)

I generally would say posting on ones site is the best option if you’re looking for general discussion.

We really don’t mind discussions about our products though. Even though we can’t always implement all of the ideas here, we do appreciate the feedback, which we may not see if folks only post it on their sites.

I am sure Staff does not mind having discussion regarding new features and the place for that is in comments made on the feature announcement posts where everyone with internet access can read them.
