New WordPress Colors? What is going on?
-
This is my first post here on the wordpress forum. It takes a whole lot to get me complaining… or give “feedback” in this case… WordPress has added a pink-ish and a lame-greish-bluish color as options for your bars/buttons on your wordpress page when posting, dashboard and so on. Even the text when your writing a new post has changed into a weird light black or greyish color?
Very unpleasant to look at it, but most importantly my eyes just do not agree with it, hurts to look at.
Users deserve to have the option of keeping the old format the original colors we had prior to this unnecessary change.
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I agree. The old colors were easier to read. Now there isn’t enough contrast between viewers and views. And who wants to look at magenta all the time?
-
Yeah, it’s jarring and I DEFINITELY want the old colors back.
Also, when editing, you can no longer (at least, I can’t) see horizontal lines using the button. When I publish the page, they’re there, but I have no way of knowing as they are invisible.

Hi, could you please clarify which lines you’re referring to, and which button? Do you mean the “Publish” button? If not, where exactly is the invisible line appearing?

The new colours are horrible, and were not necessary for the default theme for accessibility. They should have been added as an option. WordPress staff are quick to defend the change, but are unable to give an answer as to why it makes sense with the design choices.
According the the blog entry there is a link to an article that looks like someone has been paid to change things with the design in 2019.
Inclusive Design link from that article:
https://automattic.design/2018/12/22/13429/The article is called inclusive design, but it seems the paying subscribers to wordpress.com have been excluded from having a choice to these changes.

@torres126, for the @thyunsuspicious question, go to a blog post and press the “Horizontal Line” icon, in the text area the horizontal line does not appear but does when published or the site is previewed.

Thank you for that report, and the extra details! I’ve filed an issue on it here: https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/30058

@theeraoflight, you have a WordPress.com Business Plan which gives you access to 24/7 live chat support. Please open a support ticket at https://wordpress.com/help/contact if you need any help with your site or account.
These changes were made to improve readability of our pages for visually impaired users, and also to align with some branding changes we are making with the company. Additional color schemes will be introduced going forward, so please leave your feedback on what you’d like to see on the announcement post at https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2019/01/08/customize-your-wordpress-com-dashboard/
