New WordPress Domain Transfer

  Created a second blog & custom domain within the same account and need to transfer it to another wordpress account. Thing is, before creating this second blog I wasn’t aware that in order for it to have its own username I would have to create a separate wordpress account.

  I found this support forum to be helpful “Transferring a Site to Another WordPress.com Account” but it does not clarify one thing. I’m looking to find out if I would still need to wait 60 days before the transfer will take place, being that my domain was just purchased. Even though this is a wordpress to wordpress transfer, would this transfer not override the 60 day wait before transferring to a “new registrar”? I already created the second account underneath the email “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” but didn’t want to move forward with trying to transfer “ashleymgarner.com” to that new account in fear that the process would be held up because the domain isn’t 60 days old.

  Hi there,

  You will need to still wait 60 days to transfer your domain to another registrar outside of WordPress.com even if you transfer the domain to another WordPress.com account. But, yes, you can transfer your domain to another WordPress.com blog without waiting 60 days.

  This was perfectly clear. Thanks! Issue resolved. You let me know that I CAN transfer my blog including its domain to another wordpress account WITHOUT needing to wait the 60 days. Thanks.
