The new wordpress editor does not allow me to edit pages: Says it is not allowed!? Why?

Hi, thank you for answering…
Whenever I edit an already published page I get a Red-Bar at the top of the page, saying: “Updating failed. Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post..”
When I attempt to publish a new post, nothing is saved. Hence I am now unable to publish anything.
This has occurred since WordPress introduced the new editor, which I do not like at all.
I did not have any problems with the classic editor.
I am on a free plan. So I cannot revert back to the classic editor.

What if you try a different browser? For example, if you use Chrome normally, what happens if you try the same action in Firefox instead?
Is the issue limited to only one browser?

“I am on a free plan. So I cannot revert back to the classic editor.”
You can use the classic editor in the administrative area of your site.

Hi, thanks for answering and for your help…
I was eventually able to edit a post by using Firefox rather than Chrome.
When using Chrome I had to sign out of WordPress and back again, which allowed me to edit work.
The classic Editor is now showing, whereas before using Firefox and signing in again, it wasn’t.
The Classic Editor, looks and feels different. I personally wouldn’t call it the Classic Editor…
Edited work is now saved… At the moment, there isn’t too much hassle, apart from getting used to the new editor, etc.
Since I am getting used to the new editor, I have not got around to posting anything new yet; hopefully there will be no more problems.
Again, thanks for your help and advice.
