I am trying to create a new wordpress site for my husband using his current email address. However, he has an old site from years ago (never used, totally empty) connected to his email address. Can I get rid of this site? The field with the username won’t let me change it. The new site is totally different so I don’t want any traces of the old lingering on the new. Please help!

Sure, there’s a few options to get rid of the site — you can delete it completely, or simply set it to private to hide it from anyone finding it. The instructions on how to do that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/.

You can have as many sites as you desire, there are no limits.
To create a new WordPress site, Log in to your account (if you are not already logged in), then head to https://wordpress.com/start to create additional sites.
If you need to, you can delete the old one through this link https://wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/mansfieldtrainingblog.wordpress.com
Otherwise, set it to private using this link https://wordpress.com/settings/general/mansfieldtrainingblog.wordpress.com
You can now manage all your sites with a single account.
