Newbie asks how can I browse from blog to blog please
-
Hi – I am reading through the forums and Faq now, but so far have not yet seen how to browse and read from blog to blog. I only see how to read posts with a specific TAG grouping.
Thanks in advance. This looks like a great place to be (so far:I’m only on day one)

what you mean exactly by blog to blog? if you view your blog while logged in, there’s a little arrow on the top right side on the blue admin bar. that’s the next blog link. it will lead you to another blog randomly.
it is a great place to be. happy exploring. =)

@cronies
Please stop posting to the forum threads unless you have specific tried and true instructions to post. Instead it would be best for you to invest your time into posting to your blog and promoting it in other venues. Thanks for listening. :)@sondan
sulz has given you directions you can use to find the “next blog” button. You can also search the wordpress.com tag pages by categories. Here’s an example and when reading it understand that you can replace the last word with any category you choose http://wordpress.com/tags/cooking -
As I posted initially I am not too interested in searching by tags and I understand how to do that.
Thank You all very much for pointing out rhe “Next” blog button. it wasn’t really labeled and to tell the truth with all that blue at the top of the page I didn’t really notice the arrow so I appreciate you pointing it out for me.
BTW Can the colors at the top of Word Press Pages be changes to give the arrow more contrast?
Thanks again.

Not at the moment. You could email staff and request that, say, the button be outlined in red or something, but they’re pretty committed to the blue and white colour scheme.
Incidentally, the arrow is highly useful. I find the BEST stuff that way. So often talking to all the people you know leads only to exactly the same conversation. Freshness comes when you use that arrow: freshness and optimism, because you’ll be amazed by how much good stuff there is out there. -
Great. Thanks Raincoaster. I figured it couldn’t be changed but the important think is I know where it is now. I have been using it for a bit and found some kewl stuff. But how to I eliminated the foreign language blogs from coming up in the random mix: seem to be more non-english blogs coming up than English.
-
That depends completely on when you surf. Right now you’ll get all the Euro blogs and Asians. If you surf when the US is awake, you’ll get almost entirely English-language (or at least American-language) blogs. But you’ll find that English is the lingua franca of the internet. I regularly read Russian, British, French, Spanish, American, and Malaysian blogs that are in English.

Hi, I am completely new to this as well. I’m generally quite techno-literate but I am having trboule navigating this place. Is there a way to browse people’s blogs – eg by theme or location or attributes of blogger? I see you can look up tags which relate to individual posts, but what about whole blogs? What I am envisaging is a browsing page where you click into categories, then subcategories etc. Not sure if WordPress supports this. Thanks.

Never mind.. googled “browse blogs” and there seem to be other ways to browse blogs on the web… cheers

in wp.com tags and categories are sort of the same thing (in the most superficial sense). i think you meant if blogs as a whole can be categorised (like in technorati) and if so, can you search for them? nope for both, unfortunately. so in a way, the tags we use define the kind of blogs we have.
