Newbie – Creating my first Post

  When creating a Post do you want to add Tags and Categories? Do you need both?

  Tags and Categories work just the same. Categories can be converted into Tags, but not the other way around. It basically boils down to how you want to organize your blog.

  Categories help you to keep your posts organized and tags take important key words so they can be found according to those key words. I find both are useful but neither are necessary. If you want readership however tags seem to increase that as they get entered into the wordpress system and people can find your stuff more easily. Categories do this to but they are more general. That has been my experience.
