newbie needs guidance with event registration

    Hello,

    I’m new to WordPress. I just created a blog which will host information about a our church’s first ever charity event to raise money for breast cancer research.

    I’m looking for a recommendation on a free online event registration plug in? We do need to collected registration fees and hoping to use our existing amazon webstore to do that.

    I searched the forums (really old posts) & the web (overwhelming!).

    I could really use some guidance here.

    You can’t add plugins to blogs hosted at WordPress.COM such as the one linked to your name. Plugins are only for WordPress.ORG blogs.

    That said, I can recommend Eventbrite.com for registrations and fee collection. You will need a Paypal account to connect with it, but it works and it is highly efficient. It collects about 2.5% of the amount as a fee; you need to know that it will send you the money and then a week or so later send you the bill, so you need to hold back that much in the Paypal to account for it.

    I use it all the time and it’s fantastic.

    That’s not the best decision, actually. The BEST decision is to use WordPress.com and Eventbrite.

    Plugins are not a panacea. Unless you know what you want to do, and are sure it’s not possible here, there’s no point in making the switch.
