Newbie needs help!

  Hi. I need to make a simple website with some basic text and a logo and that allows users to click buttons that open as either dropdown menus or just link to new pages. It seems that every theme I select (free) needs to be downloaded to ‘self host’. I don’t want that. I just want the website to be online with someone else (WordPress) doing the hosting. What themes can I use to get WordPress to host it? Thanks.

  Hi there, your above free site is already hosted by WordPressdotcom. All the available themes, both free and premium, can be activated through your site’s dashboard https://wordpress.com/themes/atlasnri.wordpress.com/

  Thank you justjennifer! The extra links are great – I will read/watch them. The one other thing I haven’t figured out is (even after watching so many youtube videos on ‘themes’) do I have to buy a premium/business plan to get themes that are more customisable or to add plugins? It seems you need plugins to be able to add any clickable buttons or to even resize any page elements right? I selected a free theme but there is no way to add buttons. I am a coming from a Wix experience where its all done for me…(embarrasing!) Thank you.

  Make sure the videos you are watching are relevant for sites here on WordPressdotcom. The vast majority of them can be found on our Support site at https://en.support.wordpress.com/ and I directly linked to them in my earlier reply.

  Not at all. You can add any of our free or Premium/Paid themes without upgrading from a free site.

  Again, no. You can add clickable links/buttons in a number of ways without using any plugins. Perhaps let us know what it is you are trying to do so we can better help you.
