Newbie needs help setting up accounts

  I am trying to set up some websites and got in over my head. This is what I did:

  1. Last year, a colleague created 2 websites under one account name (katmandoo). I am trying to create 2 additional websites under the same name. I registered one of the domain names (translateinquebeccity.com) under one of the old blog sites (translateinthetownships.wordpress.com), not realizing I needed to create a whole new blog site (dunno if I’m using the right terminology here).
  2. I realized I wanted more flexibility so I registered for self-hosting with Dreamhost. I installed WordPress on DH using One Click but I was unable to run the install (translateinquebeccity.com/wp-admin/install.php). A DH forum user said I needed to point my site to DH. I did this through WP, which said it may take up to 48 hours to go through. It’s been 24.
  3. In the meantime, I realized I should have signed up for a new blog site so I did that. But of course the domain name I wanted was already in use (by me), so while I typed in “translateinquebeccity.com”, what was assigned to me automatically was actually “translateinquebeccitydotcom.com”.
  4. Through WP, I transferred “translateinquebeccity.com” to go under “translateinquebeccitydotcom.com”.

  Everything’s a mess now. One of last year’s websites no longer loads (possibly something to do with my changing the primary domain a bunch of times) and I still can’t run the install for my new site. I also don’t know if I even really need the self-hosting. I feel like if I could just show an experienced person my mess, they’d be able to clean it up in a few minutes. Can anyone help?

  P.S. The blog I need help with is NOT andiehotranslations.com, as it says at the bottom of my last post. That seems to have been inserted automatically by the system. Last year’s websites were translateinthetownships.com and ontraduitalestrie.com.
