Newbie needs help with theme.

    Hi,
    I am creating a site using free wp theme, at least a free one for now. The site needs a horizontal menu and access to the site’s CSS. My questions follow.

    1. Can a horizontal menu be added if the theme does not come with it?
    2. Is there access to site’s CSS somewhere other than to just the header and background? (I know “custom css” is an option.)

    1. Most themes have a horizontal top menu. On the relatively few themes that have a vertical one, yes, it can be turned to horizontal via CSS editing (if you have the Custom Design upgrade).
    2. If you have the upgrade you can modify any aspect of the appearance of a theme. But on wordpress.com you don’t do it by modifying the original stylesheet directly, you do it by adding your changes in Appearance > Customize > CSS. See this post of mine too:

    Hi. Well, I am disappointed. When researching the cost of using WP, I didn’t see anything about site level CSS being extra. In fact, I thought I had played with it some time ago using the current account.
