  I feel really stupid asking this, but what URL do I tell my friends to go
  so they can see & comment at my new blog. Not all are on Facebook or other social media. I told one person – http://jryan202.wordpress.com and they got “not found” ?

  http://jryan202.wordpress.com/ is correct. Your friend must have done a typo or something.
