Newbie Photo Upload question

  Hi all. I’m trying to upload some photo’s in posts – but I don’t have that nifty box at the bottom of my post page as is shown in the FAQ that would allow me to browse, upload the photo – is it still possible to upload without hosting the photo somewhere else? What the heck am I missing? I’m in the “write post” screen and I just get a title box, text box with selections above which only includes an image box to upload a photo URL. Any help would be appreciated – thanks.

  Thanks Timethief – my problem isn’t understanding the FAQ – it is that I don’t have the upload/browse box on my “write post” page. I have the three boxes for saving/editing, saving and publishing. Then a blue tab with the test “optional excerpts” and below that another long blue tab with “trackbacks” but no boxes allowing me the browsing/uploading feature.

  Probably best to make a sidebar text widget and put it in there. If you want it to be a major-sized picture, put it in a customized header (not all themes allow this). Otherwise you could put it in a page, which remains static, but if you put it in your regular blog it’ll get pushed down to the bottom fairly quickly by your new posts. It just depends which page you select to be your front page.

  “Probably best to make a sidebar text widget and put it in there.” How do I do this? When I go to format the Text widget…It only allows text. I sized a picture in a word document and put my name underneath but only the text shows up not the picture. Help?

  The text widget will accept the code for images just as it accepts text. If you’re not adept with html then upload the image into a draft post that you will delete later. Once the image is uploaded and sent to the ditor copy the image code and save the draft post. Then copy and paste the image code into the text widget. Once the image is in displaying in your sidebar – delete the draft post.
