Newbie: Post Category Page Dillema

Add topic to favorites
Just started blogging. Can anybody clear me on this. 1. Posts can be grouped under one category? 2. I want my different pages to have different category. Is this possible? And yes, please can you explain structure at wordpress.com. Means like post is lowest part, next is category or page and how they can be organised, like that.

For posting double post: Accepted and regret it. But it was unintentional, because my browser got hanged for sometime so clicked on Submit more than once.

But still having doubt about their heir-achy, and how following can be grouped.

Category

Please Go through the quick start links I gave you.

Pages are standalone for content that does not change much – for example – About Me or Why I started this blog – Pages don’t have Categories or Tags

Posts have Categories or Tags (Tags optional and only one Category is required)

Categories and Tags are used in part to tell a search engine what is important about the Post – they also help your visitors find related Posts.

Categories can have a hierarchy – Tags can not

Cars
Ford
Chevy

Trucks
18 Wheelers
Pick-ups

A Post can be a member of more than one Category or Tag.
