  Hi
  I’d like to make my blog on .ly domain. So I created account on wordpress.com but name that i’d like to use is occupied already with this free wordpress.com. There is free .net domain but i dont want to pay for two domains (.ly and .net). Can i register for .net domain and before use it connect site with .ly domain ?

  in simplier words. I dont want to use wordpress.com domain and their free is occupied already. How can i do that ?

  You register a placeholder domain, whatever.wordpress.com and from the dashboard of that blog you buy the whatever.ly or whatever.com or whatever.net URL you want, and buy the domain mapping upgrade for $13 a year, and you’re done.
