  Hi,

  I’m totally new to WordPress and I am trying to customize the appearance of this blog:

  http://bmrealty.com/blog/.

  Specifically, I’d like to remove the black bars above and below the header image as well as the “Sample Page” link.

  Can someone tell me how to do that?

  The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.

  I’m sorry but that blog is a WordPress.ORG blog and we cannot help you with it here at all. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG run on different software. You must post to http://wordpress.ORG/support to get help with that “powered by WordPress” (click the footer link) blog.

  Sorry about my ignorance, I had no idea I addressed the wrong forum.

  But since my question is sort of a general one, I don’t see why it can’t be answered in general terms.

  The two (WordPress.ORG and WordPress.COM) run on different software and we do not answer questions that pertain to WordPress.ORG installs, because the answers are different.   My about meny is gone. Can I find it somewere or can I update my info and picture under another meny?

  I also need helt how to get links at the side of my blogg. I have tried but it is just the linkadress how shows.

  Troubleshooting – My menu isn’t appearing
  Go to the custom menu page in the dashboard Appearance > Menus and in the “theme location” module at upper left select your custom menu from the pull-down and then click “save”.
