Newbie Question: Did my tag do this for me?

I’ve been trying to figure out global tag pages, tags & categories, etc. I went to my current post and clicked my tag “Thoreau”. When I got to the page with all Thoreau references, is that the global tag page?
Also, I was very nearly the top of the list – number 3 or 4. Is it page views that put me there? or comments? I have seven.
I know this is so basic, but I’d sure appreciate any input.

Your position in the global tags system usually is based on the time of the post since they are chronological. The tag in the post goes to the global tag system and the ones in the sidebar are local to your blog.
