newbie widget question

    I have been over and over this, I cant seem to find the widgets
    Following the intructions, Where are they?

    Inside your blog, click ‘Presentation’ and one of the submenus will be ‘Sidebar Widgets’

    WHERE, exactly is the link? Does it drop down from somwhere or what?

    When I click that link for presentation, I go to a page with
    * Themes
    * Extras
    * Hemingway Options
    * Edit CSS
    links and nothing else, (except layouts of page designs).
    I am on firefox, with scripting enabled and adblock turned off.

    Do I need to get a different page layout or pay for widgets or what?

    I tried to change a couple colors in the page style, got a message that I need to pay to do that…

    Yes, you need a different theme for widgets. Hemingway isn’t widget-enabled, so try another one; most are fine with it. There’s no cost to change a theme.

    And no, you can’t change colours or any of that here without the CSS upgrade. We are on a shared blogging platform, so if you changed your regular template you’d be changing it for everyone else who uses that template.

    It is me again, sorry to be a pest.

    I have just gone and selected

    Green Marinée 1.0 by Ian Main

    A very versatile green two-column theme with widgets and lots of style.

    Followed the same instructions, several times over…
    But I still do not see any widgets, anywhere…

    what am I doing wrong?
    Where are the widgets?

    Can someone tell me WHERE, on the page are they? (upper left quadrant, UR quadrant, etc,) Please describe the location…
    Do they drop down or pop-up, do I need a secret decoder ring…

    Do I need yet another, different theme or what?

    The widgets are at the very bottom of the page. Click on one and drag it to where in the sidebar you want it to be: I always hold the mouse key down with one hand and Page Up with the other.

    I hope I didn’t give you bad advice about Hemingway: I know there are a few themes that don’t have widgets, and figured since you said you couldn’t see the Sidebar Widgets page this must be one of them.

    You go Dashboard — > Presentation — > Sidebar Widgets.

    I hear your frustration and empathize. You happened to select two of the very few themes that do not have widgets at all. When you select a theme and click Presentation if you do not see “Sidebar Widgets” then the theme doesn’t have them. You’re also quite right to feel peeved the “advertising” on the Presentation Page on Green Marinee is not correct. The bottom line is: If you want widgets you will have to select another theme.

    P.S. Don’t choose Ambiru or Supposedly Clean – they do not have widgets either.

    OK, got another… layout, theme (whatever to heck it is called.)
    I sure thought I saw something some-where to add a digg.com button.
    Is that something I need to pay for too, or am I looking still at the wrong thing?

    Adding the digg button is something for each post that you make and not a widget. There is an FAQ on adding the digg stuff to your posts. I know a couple other people have added the digg button into a ‘text’ widget, but unless you are only putting 1 post on each page, I think the ‘per post’ option would be better.
