I just started a WP.com blog. Found out that a certain plugin that I was after was only allowed through a WP.org. So I purchased my domain thru WP. Now I cannot create a .org account ??? I would appreciate some / any help. I am not a computer tech, so layman’s terms would be fabulous.
Cheers,

Hi there. First off, what exactly does the plugin you want do? Perhaps that function already exists here, in which case you won’t need to go to WordPress.org, which will, unfortunately, require some technical know-how.

Are you talking of this: http://matadornetwork.com/travel-map/ ? With that site you don’t need a plugin – you just create the map and embed it into a post/page using the html editor. It should work in a text widget as well.
If you’re speaking of one of the two WP.org plugins I see with this name, you can’t use them here, but you can create and embed a custom Google Map to your site, if that will work for you. https://en.support.wordpress.com/google-maps/#embedding-a-custom-map
If neither of those options work for you, to move to WordPress.org you’ll need to buy a hosting account (you already have a custom domain), and then install the WordPress.ORG software, as well as either a free or premium WordPress.org theme, to that domain. The WordPress.org support site lists several hosting providers that specifically supports the WordPress.org software.

https://wordpress.org/themes/Your theme, Plane, has a WordPress.org version which you can download here: https://public-api.wordpress.com/rest/v1/themes/download/plane.zip
You can keep your custom domain with WordPress.com and just change the name servers to point to a different host, or you can move the domain away completely to a different registrar, if you, for example, prefer your domain and hosting to be at the same place. Instructions here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/
Once you’ve set up your self-hosted site, you can transfer your content over there with the export/import functions under Tools in the WP-Admin dashboard. You can transfer your followers, and gain access to a number of WordPress.com features via the Jetpack plugin.

http://jetpack.me/You’ll probably need other plugins besides Jetpack to get certain features available in WordPress.com, but with the right plugins you can get all the functionality you have on WordPress.com, and then some. You’ll need to visit the WordPress.org support forums for help with that, as well as any other issues regarding self-hosted sites.
