hi everybody I am a newby and I am trying to understand what my choices are for creating and maintaining a nice looking website with BLOG in a whole package with the same look.
after trying out all the free templates here I started thinking to buy a more professional looking one, and I have found this site on line called studio press the template I really like (the overall look) is here: http://demo.themedy.com/clip-cart/
they sell it with the genesis framework (no idea what that is and if I need it). I would not mind to pay for it if I can then install it on my site account I have here. the question I have is wil lI be able to install that template on here I have the WP.com free account not the .org.
Also, if I decide to go with the wp .org can I download it on my Mac or do I need a special platform?

In a word the answer is “no”. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs like the one linked to your username and we cannot install individual plugins or third party themes into them. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

If you wish to have complete control over a blog, the ability to upload themes and plugins, and to edit themes and templates then your option is to hire a web host and get a free software install from WordPress.ORG and self host it.

thanks, so let me see if I understand correctly:
if I decide to go with WP.ORG can I do it by myself? can I download the software on my G5 Mac desktop or do I need a special platform ?

here when one browse for templates (themes) there are some that are for sell, will these ones sold on here sutable for a WP.COM account? or even these ones are to be used with WP.ORG only accounts?thanks
