Thirteen is a very old theme that has been retired because it no longer supports all WordPress.com functions. My advice it to change themes because the issue may disappear if you do.

You can quickly and easily change themes to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.

Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes and browse themes until you find one you like and click “activate” or type in the name of the theme you want to use and
click the “activate” link when it appears.

After you change your theme all you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install them where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.

Thank you so much for your helpful response. You seem very knowledgeable and I wonder is there a lovely, crisp theme that comes to mind you could recommend. Kind regards – Ellen

  • Looks like you’ve selected Motif and the site – and your widgets – look good to me!

Just let us know if you need further help.

Yes I have!!! Thanks so much. Different topic, but I can not share posts with my facebook page, they only want to share with my personal fb page which I do not want. Any suggestions. Kind regards Ellen

  • This guide explains how to connect a Facebook page for which you’re an administrator:

If you still need help after giving that a look, please start a new thread for the issue, and add the tag modlook in the tags area so staff will be sure to see it. Thanks!
