newly imported german strings in GlotPress

    Someone – unfortunately I don’t know who – imported a bunch of german strings in the WordPress.com GlotPress. Where did they come from and can you tell them, that “post” is translated as “Beitrag” instead of “Artikel”?

    As far as I know, it’s the result of a decision taken in the WordPress.org community (see → here and → here). We’ve decided to go that way as well and replaced all “Artikel” with “Beitrag” on WordPress.com. As a result I had to manually correct roughly 20 strings today.

    While we’re at it. Why can’t GlotPress on WordPress.com display the name of the user who imported the strings in their meta sections? What I’m saying is, imported strings are missing a “Translated by” field in the meta section. We discussed it back in October 2012 and Jenia posted a GlotPress ticket. So I thought it has been fixed?

    The bug is accepted, but the patch is not committed … :(

    I do agree! I asked a related question that’s been simply ignored, and so bad things slowly override the good ones in widespread indifference and no way to check it out

    Hi everyone,

    I’m checking with our team to see where those German strings came from, and I included Martin’s feedback about the correct terminology. I’ll let you know what I find out about that.

    Regarding the “Translated by” field, I completely agree and it’s on our wishlist for updates to GlotPress. Thanks for linking to the GlotPress ticket about the issue — I’m checking to see if one of our developers can help move that along.

    @ lilmaouz, I’m sorry about that earlier thread of yours being ignored. (It wasn’t intentional, but sometimes staff misses some of the forum threads due the large overall volume of support requests.) I’m trying to keep an eye on the translations forum to make sure that new threads like that aren’t missed, but please feel free to modlook any translation-related posts that need staff attention. :)

    Hi Martin,

    I checked on this mistranslation, and our team worked with another translator who used the term “Artikel” instead of the correct term “Beitrag.” We’ve now sent that translator your feedback and the glossary to make sure future translations use the right terminology.
