News articles I added to my blog for the last 3 months removed?
-
Hello to all.
I’m trying to understand why parts of my blog disappeared or were removed. My site is expandingsky.wordpress.com. Its about the Universe, the Earth, life on Earth. There’s nothing offensive or controversial on it.
I add news articles every few weeks. I add it here: https://expandingsky.wordpress.com/news/
I went today and found that all the articles I’ve added for the last 3 months, all but one, were gone. A tremendous amount of work. I don’t have a backup for any of this. I don’t know how to save the site. Also, the button that allows me to add articles was also gone.It used to be at the bottom of the page.
And even navigating to that section was considerably harder.
I have a lot of space left on the blog, so it’s not a data problem.
Is it possible that someone was able to get into the blog and make these changes? I can’t imagine what else would cause this, though I’m sure it is possible that something else could be the cause.
Did WordPress make some changes that could cause this?
If anyone knows what could have caused this and what I can do to prevent it again in the future, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
Thank you kindly!

WordPress.com never remove or alters post or pages. I tagged this with modlook to get attention from Staff. They have access to the log files and can see what happened.

Hi there,
Our logs for your site does not show any content being removed recently – the last post that was deleted from your site was in January, and the logs show your account did that.
I also don’t see any new content published on your site since November 2017.
https://expandingsky.wordpress.com/news/ is a static page, that you’ve just been continually updating with new content. That is not the same thing as publishing new content.
Looking at the revision history for that page, there hasn’t been any changes to it since 23 August.
Note that using pages in this way is not recommended. Pages are meant for static content, that doesn’t change over time. For regular updates, like a newsfeed on a site, you should use posts. That way each post gets its own unique URL, and your subscribers are notified that you’ve published new content. If you change content on a page, your followers are not notified, and it can take many weeks before search engines update their indexed version of the page to include the new content.

Thank you both for your time and attention. I very much appreciate it!
The content I’m referring to is only on the news side of my blog.
Every 2 or 3 weeks, I update the content with new articles and/or videos related to the Earth sciences. Unless I’ve managed to forget 3 months of updates, I’m fairly sure I lost the updates from August to October. There were a number of updates I believe I posted.
I suppose it’s possible that I somehow have… misremembered those updates, but I feel like I didn’t. But you have access to the information that I don’t have. I believe then that you must be right and I apologize.
As for the way I set up the blog, believe me, just getting as far as I did was a challenge. I came into it 100% green and was happy that I could get as far as I did without bringing down the entire internet. I did watch quite a few videos and read a number of posts by others on how to set up a WordPress blog. It was the best I could do.
I can’t actually say that I know the difference between Posts and Pages. I hope I haven’t violated any WordPress rules.
What I was trying to do was to set up a series of sequential posts, from oldest to newest. 1 – 100, as it were. That way people might read through the blog like one might read a book. From the beginning to the conclusion. WordPress seems more aimed at the reverse. My apologies.
Would you know how I can save the website to prevent accidental loss in the future? Something I can use to save the site on my desktop and work on offline? I tried an app called Pocket but couldn’t get it to work.
Anyway, thank you again!

Dear Kokkieh,
I reread your post and noted that you said that the last changes for the blog was on 23 August. Yet the last post on the news section is from August 08…
