  Hello,
  I use wordpress.com (not .org) and I would really love to put a news ticker onto my page. From what I understand it needs to be a new plug in. I’ve found ways to do it on wordpress.org , but have had no luck on here. Is it possible to create a news ticker for my blog or would I have to transfer to wordpress.org? Sample #2 on this website (http://dittynewsticker.com/ditty-posts-ticker/) or something similar is what I am looking for. Also, is wordpress.org more for self-hosted users?

  WordPress.com is has a variety of plugins built in as widgets and features, however installation of 3rd party plugins isn’t possible for security. I don’t know of a way to do a news ticker that streams live, however there are some themes that have a “news banner” concept that might be worth considering.

  If those aren’t suitable and this is critical enough to be worth moving your site, then a self-hosted site that you manage directly is probably the way to go.
