news website

Is it possible to build a website that will link media feeds such as CNBC, Marketwatch, FOX and NBC to get financial/news headlines onto my homepage? If so, is there a template already created? If this will this have to be built from scratch, how much would a site like this cost to build?

  • Hi there,

If those sites offer public RSS feeds that they allow to be embedded on third party websites, it should be possible using the correct plugins. Plugins can be used on our Business Plan, but we cannot recommend specific plugins for this, and also note that the cost of the Business Plan doesn’t include the cost of any premium plugins sold by other companies.

So on our end the cost would be $300 a year, with optionally another $18 a year for a custom domain. But there might be additional cost for premium plugins.

For advice on the best plugins to use for this, https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ is a better place to ask.

If so, is there a template already created?

Templates/themes just control how a site looks, not how it works. We don’t have anything specifically designed for a site like this, though news sites usually go for what’s called a magazine-style theme:

We don’t offer custom development services, so I’m not able to tell you what something like this would cost. For an estimate on this kind of job you can try a freelancer agency like Upwork.com, or else you can look at a directory like https://jetpack.pro for developers that might be able to build something like this for you.
