Hi, I can’t find the CSS template at all. This link doesn’t help (http://wp.me/PEmnE-Bt) and it seems not possible to add a dead simple email form, to enable users to give me their emails. Contrairement à ce que l’aide indique, il n’y a absolument pas ça ‘My Sites → Customize → CSS.’ Merci par avance de m’indiquer comment faire.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello,

You don’t need CSS to add this type of form. You should add a contact form to collect email addresses.

    Here are the instructions:

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Thank you for being so helpful. The thing is I don’t want to add another (contact) page, just an email field in the sidebar. It should be possible to add it as a widget, though it is not available. I tried to edit the CSS template, but I guess I don’t have the required skills to make it work with SumoMe. Is there another (easy) way to add this field, it shouldn’t be that complicated ?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hey there,

You don’t need to add a contact page by installing a contact form.

If you want to simply gather an email address, you can install a Text Widget into your sidebar, give it a name like Newsletter Sign up (or whatever you wish), and then paste the following shortcode into the main content area of your widget:

    [contact-form]
    [contact-field label="Join my mailing list" type="email"]
    [/contact-form]

Give that a try and see how it looks.

You mentioned the SumoMe plugin. Plugins are only usable on self-hosted WordPress.org sites.

Third party plugins cannot be installed on WordPress.com sites. This is a security risk as we cannot vet all outside code and it puts our users, their sites, and our servers at risk.

I know the difference between .com and .org can get confusing, so here’s a breakdown of the benefits of each:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hope this sheds some more light on the issue!

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

Ok you’re very good, thanks a lot :)
Last thing, how can I edit the text in the button (submit) ?

Also, it says “message sent” when the email address is saved, but I don’t receive the messages…and I can’t find the email address in the backoffice ?…Thanks again for your help.

    Hello!

I am glad I could help with that.

The notification for that email is sent to the administrative email address associated with your WordPress.com account. You can collect those emails sent to you to create your mailing list for your newsletter.

You should also be able to read the results of your contact form in your Feedback:

Information about Feedback is seen here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/#feedback-management

If I can help in any other way, please drop me a line. Cheers :)
