  Hi I’d like to set up a newsletter as part of my author business. Can I do it here or what are the requirements to attaching a newsletter to this site?

  You can also use the Blog Subscription Shortcode https://en.support.wordpress.com/blog-subscription-shortcode/

  You cannot use the MailChimp embed code or the Aweber embed code and cannot create a pop-up on a wordpress.COM hosted blog. You can create a sign up page on MailChimp or on Aweber only and link to it.
