newsletter subscription plugin – help needed

    Hello!

    Let me stress that I’m brand new and know next to nothing. That being said, I’ve searched the forums and exerted considerable effort prior to posting here.

    I’m trying to set this up:

    I have followed the directions to the best of my ability. I’ve downloaded something called FileZilla as well since I appear to need that. I’ve even gone so far as trying to connect to my blog from FileZilla:

    Status: Resolving IP-Address for nodepositbonusnewsletter.wordpress.com
    Status: Connecting to 72.233.2.56:21…
    Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message…
    Error: Could not connect to server

    Although I’m not really sure what I would have done if I’d been able to connect to the server, but I figured I’d post that since it might be relevant. These are the instructions that I’m attempting to follow:

    Upload wpsb-opt-in.php to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
    Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu in WordPress Admin
    You will find a new Section under ‘Options’ menu called ‘Wp SendBlaster Opt-in’.
    go to Wp SendBlaster Opt-in and set the same managing email address that you have inside your bulk email software Manage subscriptions menu
    inside Presentation menu in WordPress Admin, drag to your sidebar the newly added plugin

    I have SendBlaster configured and working fine with subscribers from a website, but I’d really like to automate the subscriptions into SendBlaster and WordPress seems like a good way to do that. Am I using a version of WordPress that will support that? I haven’t paid anything for it. I suppose I most need some assistance with –

    Upload wpsb-opt-in.php to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory

    and…

    Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu in WordPress Admin

    Since I can’t seem to find this “WordPress Admin” anywhere…

    I really appreciate any assistance you can provide and apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge.

    You’re in the wrong place. You need to be at wordpress.org/support.

    Unless you’re trying to achieve this with a wordpress.com blog. If so, plugins can’t be used here.

    I believe I am. So I guess I need a blog at wordpress.org instead?

    To use plugins you need a blog hosted somewhere else with software downloaded (free) from wordpress.org. wp.org is not a host.

    If your url includes wordpress.com you are hosted here and can’t use plugins.
