  On the main page of your blog, you will not see the “previous posts” link at the bottom of the page until there are more posts than what you have set to display under settings > reading in your dashboard. To see this, under settings > reading, set the number of posts to appear on a page to 5, click save changes and then view your blog and you will see the previous link at the bottom of the main blog page.
