    There it is. There used to be a next page link and a previous page link on my blog, and it has disappeared.

    i see your next page link just fine. is it still missing now?

  • Unknown's avatar

    This is really weird.
    Yes, it is still missing. Thanks for checking this out. But I really can’t understand this

  • Unknown's avatar

    I see it in both Firefox 2 and IE7. What browser are you using?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’m using firefox 2.0.0.6
    I logged out, to see if it made a difference and I also checked with Safari.
    Just don’t see the links. But I guess that as long as other people see them, it’s all right ;)

    I have the same problem. At home I can see the links, but at my computer at work I cannot. My readers are sending me e-mails to complain about it as well.

    I read somewhere else on the forum that a problem like this can occur when you host the site yourself, so you should go to wordpress.org. But I do not host it myself, so I could use some help too.

    It’s a recurring problem, and has been reported by several people. Send an email to support at wordpress dot com and tell them what you’re using as your browser at work vs at home and all related details. They should be able to fix it.

    Just mailed them. Thank you.

    This morning, when I first looked at the page, the links were not there. About half an hour later, I decided to make a screen shot and write to support, and lo and behold, the links were back!
    MyBlogLog said that Devblog had visited… Could it be related?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Mine are back, too!

    This is weird, because it is the middle of the night in the US. They must be fast asleep right now. Or do the people of WordPress never sleep, haha.

    Oh well, just hope the links stay where they are and not disappear on me again!

    Devblog isn’t a paid staffer, so he doesn’t have that kind of access. Maybe he’s just magical!

    Mark, who does Support, is in the UK.

    Anyway, someone just reported to me with a screenshot that he didn’t see the next page link, either with IE or with Firefox on a PC.

    I tried to report to support, but it’s closed!

    Just reported to support!

    Hello, I have experienced this problem since last week on my blog: masadanew.wordpress.com
    I have sent an email to the support last Friday but up to today I haven’t received any email back and the problem is still there. No next page available.
    How long does it take for the support to work on similar requests?

    @masadaadmin: when did you last check your blog? I just had a look and I see them; right at the bottom, Pagina Successiva and Pagina Precedente. Hopefully it’s just been fixed by support, but do you see them now? If not, what browser and OS are you using?

  • Unknown's avatar

    No way, it doesn’t work for me, why? I am using Firefox 2.0.0.9, and Safari, on a Mac laptop, both using a user logged in and lot logged in. And I never see back my italian links for next page and previous page. How come that you can easily see them? Somebody must have experienced this on/off behaviour already before… hope you have got the answer. Nicoletta

    I see the links in Firefox 2.0.0.9 and also in Safari 3.0.3. Have you tried logging out of wordpress, deleting your cookies and emptying your browser cache and then logging back in and viewing the pages?

    I have had this problem happening every day since I first noticed it on 25 October. I reported it to Support and have been in touch with them several times since, giving them further information. For those of you experiencing the same issues, it might interest you to read the text of one of my emails to Support staff:

    [..]

    the problem I am experiencing where the navigation link “Previous Entries” disappears from the bottom of my Home page is continuing to happen when I access the blog each day.

    It doesn’t happen every time, but maybe around 1 in 3 times when I do the following:
    click on a single page and then return to the Home page;
    click on a category group of posts and then return to the Home page;
    click on a month group of posts and then return to the Home page;
    refresh the browser when the Home page is displayed;
    close the browser and re-open the blog.

    When the navigation link IS present, if I use it to display the previous set of 10 posts (posts 11-20), and then return to the front page, sometimes the navigation link has disappeared. Using the browser’s back button to access “/page/2/” re-displays the forward and back links OK, but again, if I return to the front page then the link is still missing.

    It seems to be very random, but once it has disappeared, it will not return by doing any of the above actions.

    There is however one action I have found that always works when the link has disappeared, and that is to go into Edit mode on the last post (and without making any changes) click on “Save”. When I then display (or refresh) the browser/tab, the missing link ALWAYS re-appears. This is the only sure way to get it to display after it has disappeared. Of course, if I then click on something else, chances are that it will disappear yet again!

    I’ve looked at the page code and as you would expect the anchor ref and text is not present when the link is not displaying.

    Examples:
    When navigation link is displaying correctly:

    <div class=”navigation”>
    <div class=”alignleft”><a
    href=”http://pemadesign.wordpress.com/page/2/”>« Previous
    Entries</div>
    <div class=”alignright”></div>
    </div>

    When navigation link is failing to display:

    <div class=”navigation”>
    <div class=”alignleft”></div>
    <div class=”alignright”></div>
    </div>

    The history of this problem might be of some relevance. I first noticed it back in mid-August, perhaps 2 or 3 times, but not throughout September. This month I started noticing it again on 25 October and it is now happening semi-continuously, about every third or fourth time I navigate away from the Home page and then return to it.

    I have tried reducing the number of displayed posts from 10 to 5, but this has made no difference.
    It can happen when either logged in or logged out.
    It can happen running on other computers/internet connections/operating systems/IE browser versions.

    [..]

    Judging by the number of posts/threads on this forum that have appeared these last few weeks, I think the problem may be happening a lot more often but has gone unnoticed by many users.
