Next page link has disappeared

    @pemadesign
    I note that this is a recurring problem. I’m speculating when I say it may be associated with staff doing work in the backend that we are not aware of.

    There is another forum post on this same issue as well here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=17447

    Suffice to say that volunteers do not have backend access to blogs and cannot apply technical fixes. Only staff have such access and only they can “fix” what’s broken.

    Thanks – yes there have been a lot of posts on this issue recently.

    To clarify, my reason for posting the above e-mail sent to Support was to offer the results of what I have found, so that others suffering the same problem could if they wish, compare notes. It was not a cry for help :)

    I thought I had marked that thread resolved, but it seems I forgot to. On my blog the problem is resolved

    I’m sorry now I didn’t add another sentence above to indicate that I did understand that yours was not a cry for help. My intention was to support you in encouraging others to share notes with you so staff had details to work with. :-)

    No worries – and thanks! :-)

    My links are finally back. I will look at them, and signal in case they disappear again.
    This problem of the links disappearing every now and again can’t be something simply related to one browser (having problems with cache) given that I was flagged the problem by mum (the real user of my blog), from another pc in another country. :)

    Now, I understand thread was marked “resolved” but there is something very weird regarding how the support works: I have never received any reply back from the support as an email or something. But, I can see how when things start to be discussed on these FAQ forums instead, at some point they are resolved. Not sure what starts what, but these FAQ forums look to me the realsupport leg. Beyond that, when a problem comes back again and again, it doesn’t look to me completely resolved. Should we open a new topic when there is already one? It makes more sense to me to keep writing on the original one.
    Thanks to everybody for the support, the help, the resolution and the reassurance. Nicoletta

    I have got an idea and I would like to test it but I am having problems with my hosts file at the moment. Given that wordpress seems distributed between several web servers, could it be possible that there is a dodgy server, generating the content of the pages without link, so that only when we hit that dodgy server, we experience the problem? Otherwise, if we manage to get the route for the safe ones, the problem disappears. This could explain why the problem is on/off and why somebody experience it and somebody don’t on the same blog. It is just an idea… Nicoletta

    @masadaadmin
    You could be right, this might be causing or contributing to the problem. I too have found the one thing about this issue that remains constant throughout, is its randomness!

    I would just like to add in, that this problem is continuing to occur for me. It’s fairly random, and I cannot seem to trigger it to happen, but once it does happen, the link won’t re-appear for hours for me.

    I just had this problem on my blog. pemadesign nailed it with this:

    There is however one action I have found that always works when the link has disappeared, and that is to go into Edit mode on the last post (and without making any changes) click on “Save”. When I then display (or refresh) the browser/tab, the missing link ALWAYS re-appears. This is the only sure way to get it to display after it has disappeared.

    It worked for me. Thanks so much.
