"Next page" not working

  I add the next page tag and it shows the gray line separating my content in edit mode. I understand that it is supposed to provide “next page 1, 2, 3” links at the bottom of the page after i publish the page, but that is not showing up at all, the content stops where the next page tag was placed and thats it. How can i fix this?

  It shouldn’t show a gray line. Did you create the tag precisely as given in the NextPage support page?
  It should look like this:
  <!--nextpage-->
  You can copy and paste it rather than worry about typing it, but it must be entered into post or page content in text mode (not visual mode). Then update the post or page. Entering the nextpage tag into an editor in visual mode will result in the tag being displayed, without splitting the content.
