Next post markers at the bottom of the page

I’m trying to write a larger web serial using this site, while also storing several short stories on it. Is there a way to make it so that the ‘next post’ option at the bottom of the page when you view the site publicly don’t lead to posts in chronological order of release but instead in a listed order? I apologize if it should be obvious, but I’ve been looking for awhile now and can’t find anything.

    Hi there!

Is there a way to make it so that the ‘next post’ option at the bottom of the page when you view the site publicly don’t lead to posts in chronological order of release but instead in a listed order?

There isn’t without modifying your theme functions extensively, which is not possible on the free plan or using CSS code. Even if you were on the Pro plan, which would give you FTP access to your site’s files, the customizations needed are outside the scope of support that we could provide.

However, one way you could do this is to post your short stories as Pages instead of Posts, then they wouldn’t fall within the chronological order that you’re serial would be posted. Then, the “next” and “previous” posts would be reserved for your serial. You could add a menu item for short stories and list each story as a submenu for easy navigation, or create a page that lists all the stories with links to read.

Let us know if you have other questions!
