Next steps if email confirmation doesn't work?

When I signed up for wordpress.com and created a blog, I received a confirmation email. Clicking this leads me to a page that says “invalid activation key.” This happens when I click the “confirm email address” button as well as copying the supplied address.
When I tried clicking “resend email” (to see if a second confirmation email would work) from my account page, nothing arrives at my email address. I’ve checked to make sure it’s going to the correct email, and I also checked spam. So no go on that path.
I’d like to start my blog! What can I do?
