Nightmare trying to get access to my account
-
I’m facing difficulty accessing my account due to 2FA, which prompts me to use an authenticator app I don’t recall setting up or to use SMS from a mobile number I haven’t had for more than 5 years. I do have access to the email address associated with the account. Resetting the password hasn’t resolved the issue.
I reached out to help@wordpress.com, and they suggested using the forum. Ironically, the forum requires logging into an account to post, and my challenge lies in accessing the account. They then directed me to account recovery, assuming I don’t have access to the associated email address. However, I do have access to the email.
To seek help for my account, I’ve had to created a new account with a different email address just to use the forum.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Thta’s the moment you must use on the backup codes you got when you activated 2FA and you were strongly adviced to save them on a safe place.

Codes that are over 10 years old are not helpful in this situation, especially when I don’t have access to those codes. If backup codes were supposed to be provided, how were they sent to me? Possibly through email, but I can’t find them there. Although the email is linked to the account, I am unable to access my WordPress account. I can’t even delete the account and create a new one. I would appreciate it if all the blogs and accounts associated with my email could be deleted so that I can start fresh. However, seeking assistance from anyone at WordPress seems almost impossible.

Please send an email to passwordhelp@wordpress.com from the email address tied to the account you’re trying to access explaining the situation, and we’ll see if there’s anything we can do for you. Thanks!
