"nishita" showing only small photos

  photographs coming up small on site – i choose what I thought to be the right size – 1024p width at 72dpi, I also tried the web size of 800p width at 72dpi. they both come up the same small size which look like thumbnails. I choose this theme b/c sample shows images full page and the ability to scroll down full page to older posts. I’m sureI’m doing something wrong as i’m a newbie.
