Nishita theme doesn't appear.

I chose the Nishita theme. A message tells me that Nishita is my Current Theme. But the theme doesn’t appear. My heading is all black with white lettering. What’s wrong?

Hi there, your site is set to display your latest posts, but since you haven’t written any posts yet, that’s why your front page is blank. You can fix that by publishing your first post, or if you’d like your front page to display a static page instead – such as About Me – follow the guide here:

Thanks, kathrynwp, for your attempt to help me. My site is to have pages, not posts. I have written and published several pages. They all appear as links in that ugly black header, with white -on-black text on the pages. Today I created and published a page called Home, as you suggested, but it just appeared as one more link in the header, with the usual B&W on the front page and no sign of the Nishita theme. Any suggestions?

If you’d like your new static page to be displayed as your homepage, you’ll need to set that up, otherwise the site is trying to display your latest posts, which is the default setting in WordPress.
Open your Customizer and click the Static Front Page section, then choose “A static page” next to “Front page displays” and select the page you just created. Save your changes.

Thanks for all your help. We’re getting closer.
Now my page called Home shows up when I go to My Site. But still the Nishita theme doesn’t show up, even though I’m told that it is my Current Theme. And I’ve selected it over again several times.
All the pages I’ve created are there, but all the text is white (grey?) on black. The images I uploaded look good, but the rest of the headers and text pages are black. Seems like I’m just one step away. -
I went to the Themes site and picked a different one. As a result, I see my pages (black on white) with the new header. But do others see what I see? I guess I’ll find out in time. It wasn’t the theme I originally wanted, but it will work. Thanks for your help.

The theme that is set as your current theme will not show up in the list of themes since you are already using it. It is excluded from the list you see. If you switch to a different them, then the previous theme you were using would again show up in the list.
I’m seeing black text on a white background on your site right now using Lovecraft. Great header image!
