No access to classic editor
-
There is no access to the classic editor on my site in a relatively new account created in mid-June this year. Two questions: 1.) Why not?, 2.) Can you fix the issue?

Hi,
You can try to access the Classic editor using this link.
https://wordpress.com/support/editors/#classic-editor
There is also a Classic block that is similar to the Classic editor.
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
The classic editor is being retired.

Here is information about how to use blocks.

Using blocks with a little practice you may find is not as difficult as it might seem.

Thanks, but the “Classic Editor” links described and illustrated in the How Can I use the Classic Editor? section of the WordPress.com Classic Editor Deprecation FAQs support page do not appear in the site in my truthseeker50 account. They do appear in all sites in my older WordPress.com accounts, but not in this case.
I appreciate your help, but I for one have no intention of switching to the block editor. The WP-Admin editor has been my editor of choice for over a decade and remains so.

Hi @truthseeker50,
The newer accounts have no way to default back to the Classic Editor because we’re retiring it. If you wish to keep using it, I’d suggest trying the Classic Block instead:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
It has all the same features as the Classic Editor.

staff-mckluskey,
Thanks, but I wasn’t asking about defaulting to the classic editor, I’m saying that I can’t reach the classic editor at all on the site mentioned above.
The How Can I use the Classic Editor? section of the WordPress.com Classic Editor Deprecation FAQs support page says:
The Classic Editor remains an option in the WP Admin dashboard in your account, regardless of your paid plan (if any! )
Then, after a brief explanation of what the WP-Admin dashboard is, the section then proceeds to describe and illustrate how to edit a post or page using the classic editor available in the WP-Admin dashboard. This process involves using links labeled “Classic Editor.” These links are absent on my site, so there is no apparent way of reaching the classic editors for posts, pages, etc.
There is also no drop-down option next to the New Post/Page option, that may be clicked to select the Classic Editor, as described in the same section of the support page.
At the bottom of that section, I read:
If, for any reason, that’s not the experience you have, contact our Happiness Engineers for help!
That’s what I did, and my request was posted here.
Also, when I described the same issue back in June in the topic Feedback Thread for the Block Editor, staff member staff-blorbo said:
Thanks! That’s always possible, but by no means intended.
If you don’t mind leaving us details in a new thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1 under the affected account, or via our volunteer blog, we’d love to dig into what’s going on.
In the same thread, he said to another member encountering the same issue:
Yes, if you are unable to switch to the Classic Editor yourself, we can do this for you.
For that, please start a new thread here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1

There is only one site under your account, I have switched that to the Classic Editor for you.
