No ads

I purchased the Premium upgrade, which promises no ads, but an ad for WordPress.com still appears on the bottom of every page. How can I get rid of that?

You don’t
Current Terms of Service:
11. Attribution. Automattic reserves the right to display attribution links such as ‘Blog at WordPress.com,’ theme author, and font attribution in your blog footer or toolbar. Footer credits and the WordPress.com toolbar may not be altered or removed regardless of upgrades purchased.
May I remove the Admin Bar, credit links such as ‘Blog at WordPress.com’, theme, font, or toolbar links?
All WordPress.com bloggers are required to maintain the Admin Bar (the dark bar that appears at the top of WordPress.com sites when logged in) as well as credit links, even our VIP bloggers. Please do not hide or alter text or links for the footer credits or the toolbar. Modifying the style of the footer text (i.e. colors and font size) is fine as long as it’s still readable.

@auxclass: Thanks for your reply. I did review the terms of service when I first joined WordPress, but at that time the reference to ‘footer credit’ didn’t really register. OK, so WordPress is covered. But I think a repeat of this message, in more explicit language, is warranted, at the time of purchase, when someone buys the ‘No Ads’ service. That line is an ad.

I don’t think many people read the footer credits – most sites when you add content to them push the footer way down – once in a while someone asks about my hosting – I tell them I am with the same company that has such small sites as CNN.COM (some of their site is a VIP site)

You are welcome
yes lots of big sites host here, so you are in good company. And if one of your posts goes viral at 100,000 page views in a day – the servers will not even breath hard
a couple of years back – one of my Posts was passed around in a sailboat owners group – got a call from a friend about it – ask about my servers – when I told him the 100 page views was not even to a rounding error he was impressed
good luck with your site
