No Ads Upgrade no longer available?
-
I have purchased the annual no-ad upgrade for my primary site and was considering it for another site I am about to take public. But all I can find now is a full upgrade to premium, although there is still language that says I can purchase a one-year no-ad upgrade. Where can I find that option?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
Does this support page help at all? I’m fairly new to wordpress.com (I’m a pretty heavy wordpress.org user) but I think this answers your question. Looks like maybe they’ve changed the premium options a little bit since you last made a purchase?

Welcome to the “new” WordPress.COM!! To enhance your blogging experience you can’t buy a new No Ads by itself (you can renew the existing No Ads) – by requiring you to buy things you might not want or use this will improve your blogging experience here.
The change was slipped in a few months ago in the middle of the night with no notice (I wonder why??)
Sorry

That is what I suspected, although there is still language that says you can buy a year’s worth of no ads a la carte — there just is no longer a form to do that. Thanks for confirming my suspicion, and that nobody else got any notice either. And thanks too jameswelbes; that was the page I was going from but as you see you have to upgrade for at least $99 (the a la carte no ads was $18 if memory serves).

No ads was $30.-/yr last time I renewed I think. You should be able to see the cost in your Billing History part of the store – the staff was very active for a few days sanitizing the support documents every-time someone ask why $99 and not $30

Tag searches are productive.
If you have an existing No-Ads upgrade on a blog then you can renew it separately. Otherwise you cannot purchase it separately. From https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/hi-is-there-still-available-the-option-for-no-ads?replies=8

It is now $30. When I initiated the service, my old credit card bill says $18….. but may have been prorated for some reason. Still, I could block ads on three of my sites for the cost of upgrading to one premium subscription now …. sigh.
-
That is wrong. The charge has always been $30. The $18 charge is for domain mapping and a domain name.

you might consider finding a hosting service and paying for a cheap shared hosting plan that would allow you to host multiple WordPress.org sites, no ads.

Sigh … I have spent over 9 years tagging threads so correct answers could be found very quickly via tag search and Google search. :(

Not that it matters one bit, since either way it’s history.
All wordpress.COM upgrades are for sale and use only on wordpress.COM.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
