What kind of ads are you seeing please? This is why I am asking. WordPress.com does not implement any advertising that results in text underscoring or colorization, text link ads or pop-up ads or links in comments. Know also that to date every blogger who has reported this on the support forums has had a browser-add-on or browser extension, game, toolbar or shopping app that was the cause of the unwanted adware.

there is text underscoring ads (possibly due to toolbars or personal apps, that use keywords from my posts, as well as top bar ads (not by this site) and column ads (not by this site). I believe the no ads upgrade would have gotten rid of the top bar and column ads from our page.

The No-Ads upgrade eliminates advertising implemented by WordPress.com from your blog. The No-Ads upgrade does not and cannot eliminate advertising that’s not on the blog. That advertising you are describing is from a browser add-on or from your computer. It’s embedded into something you downloaded or added on from the internet.

BTW just to be clear here. If your blog is in the WordAds program then you have to disable WordAds.

so nice to know the problem was simply on my end. deleting cookies solved the problem. i think i’ll keep the no ads upgrade for a cleaner look to our site. thank you.

I purchased the entire $99 upgrade with no ads. I still have this on the bottom of every page.
“Blog at WordPress.com. | Theme: Customized iTheme2 by Themify.”
How can I get rid of it.

You can’t. That’s not an advertisement, it’s a site/theme credit and it’s required.
May I remove credit links such as ‘Blog at WordPress.com’, theme, font, or toolbar links?
All WordPress.com bloggers are required to maintain the credit links, even our VIP bloggers. Please do not hide the footer credits or the toolbar with CSS after purchasing a Custom Design upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions
