No API keys?

I just read on wordpress forums that WordPress no longer uses API credentials. How do I add WordPress credentials to PayPal to receive payments if WordPress has no API credentials? If there’s a way to get API credentials from WordPress I’d greatly appreciate the advice. As of now, I can’t accept payments.

  • Hi there,

On what site are you working? The account you’re using to post here does not own any sites on WordPress.com, and no API credentials are necessary to add a PayPal button to a WordPress.com site to receive payments via them:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/simple-payments/

The only thing an API key on WordPress.com has ever been used for is for Akismet anti-spam, and that’s now integrated on all WordPress.com sites by default.

If you’re using the open source WordPress software at another host, please ask for help at https://wordpress.org/support/ instead.

Or if you’re using a particular PayPal plugin on your site, you’d need to contact support for that specific plugin for the information/credentials you need.
