No audio player in preview
-
I added an audio file (mp3) to a post. In the media list its status is attached to the post so it’s there. But when I preview the post, there’s no sign of it. What gives? I just coughed up twenty bucks for the sake of convenience and it’s having the opposite effect thus far
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What is the URL of the audio file you uploaded to your blog?
We also need a link to the blog please.

I haven’t published the post yet, since it’s incomplete, but the audio is at http://ruderformssurvive.wordpress.com/files/2009/07/love-and-treason.mp3
and the blog is http://ruderformssurvive.wordpress.comThanks

OK, the uploaded file is fine.
To put the audio player into a post or page, you have to use the audio shortcode and my suggestion is to paste the code into the HTML tab in the editor rather than into the visual tab. This support document explains about the wordpress audio player and using the shortcode: http://support.wordpress.com/audio/ . Below is the code I tried and it works for me.

Thanks, I did read the audio support page but it didn’t say anything about having to add code. I sort of wish I hadn’t paid the 20 bucks cause there are plenty of places you can upload to then link to.

I guess I should clarify: the audio support says there are three ways. The first is the way you listed, which can be done with a file uploaded anywhere. The second is “space upgrade” which says “This allows you to upload mp3, m4a, wav, and ogg files to your blog.
To upload the file, click on “Add New” under the Media icon in the sidebar of your dashboard and select the file from your computer.”
Which I took to mean in the same way you upload. insert a picture (after all it’s in the same place of the posting interface) it would do it automatically.

You can ask staff for a refund if you misunderstood the terms. They’re human and sometimes grant those kinds of things.
