No Avatars/Gravatars at all
-
Since WordPress changed to 2.7 I cannot see any avatars at all, neither on my blog nor on other blogs. Even here in this Forum there’s not one single picture to be seen. Yesterday I tried to change from avatar to gravatar in my user’s profile – same result: no pictures. I could not even close the window by clicking on the “X” as advised, because on my screen there was no X to be seen. Moving the scroll bars did not move anything on the screen. The page remained fixed and frozen. I even had to delete the author’s widget, where I used to show my avatar. My browser cache and cookies are always cleared when I close Firefox. What to do?

dancergyrl4eva, you are very lucky. I can’t see any avatars. Hope somebody would tell us how to fix this problem. Thanks!

I have tried several times to apply one of these Gravatars, and all I ever get is a black square. It’s a bit dreary, you know. However looking at the messages from other people on this thread, who say they can’t see their own avatars/gravatars, well I can see THEIR pictures but not my own. This is really confusing and pointless. On other sites you just simply put up a picture and there it is, done. Why are WordPress into making everything so complicated? I’ve read the sticky post and followed all the instructions for changing urls etc, but all it gives is that same old black square.
Can anyone help? Thanks

Thanks yes but I already tried doing what it says there.
I quote “Try loading these different URLs in your browser. They are usually cached differently, even though they point to the same image on the servers. If they are displaying different images, it’s definitely a caching issue and you need to either clear out your browser cache or wait for your ISP’s proxy cache to clear out.”
The only problem is that they are NOT all different when I do that. They are all the same black square. And the sticky post doesn’t say what to do in that case.
Can anyone just tell me how to remove this gravatar thing completely, so I just have the default pattern again. It was quite nice really.
