"No Blogs Found"

  • Unknown's avatar

I am trying to verify my primary blog as an external, so it takes me to Gravitar to enter my username, blog, and password. I do so, and it tells me that no blogs are found.

It tells me to go to a setting that does not seem to exist on the page it stated. I have been using this blog for quite some time. It’s not a new thing.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I do not understand what this “external” bit is all about so I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

    Hello there!

I’m afraid I also don’t understand what you mean by, “I am trying to verify my primary blog as an external.” Could you please clarify?

I am wondering if, at Gravatar, you’re trying to add a website here?:
    http://en.gravatar.com/profiles/edit/#your-links

If so, is this where you’re unable to add triskelereviews.wordpress.com as a blog?

If you can send me your specific goals, and links to the pages where you’re trying to add/edit your profile information, it would be most helpful.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

I’m trying to add it here: http://en.gravatar.com/profile/request?service=accounts.wordpress

To verify that the WordPress account is actually me. That way, I can choose to comment as my WordPress account when commenting on non-WP blogs.

When I enter in my information, it says that no blogs are found. All of the information is correctly, and there is most definitely a blog. So, I am quite confused.

    Thanks!

    Hi Angela,

Your WordPress.com account is, by default, already a service verified by Gravatar. You don’t need to do this again.

The page to which you refer is meant for WordPress.org (self-hosted sites).

Could you explain why you’re trying to do this? Perhaps if I know your goal, I can help with a solution!

    Let me know. Thank you!

Ah, okay. Thank you for that clarification.

When I comment on non-Wordpress blogs, the default is my Blogger profile, which I never even use. When I try to change it in the provided scroll box in that person’s comment section, it will not choose the WordPress option.

I just figured these two were related things.

That’s actually only when you comment on Blogger blogs. Blogger does not generally encourage/allow people to use a Wp.com identity; this is a problem that has been known for years. The easiest thing to do is not use gravatar or OpenID at all and just use the Name/URL option to comment.

So, just delete my Gravatar profile?

Or am I just completely oblivious to a means of disabling it?

  • Unknown's avatar

Don’t disable or delete it. Just don’t use it when you comment on Blogger blogs.

    Oh!
Thank you. I’m still fairly new to WP.

Thanks Raincoaster! Great clarification for anyone wondering about how Gravatar works with other services.

    Much appreciated :)
