No button for comments on main page in Quentin
-
On the main page, beneath each post there’s the metadeta section that shows the tags and categories associated with that post and there’s an “Edit” link as well. Great. But what is NOT there is a link for readers to click on if they would like to add a comment, despite the fact that I have set the default on a global level and additionall on each individual post to accept comments and ping-backs. This isn’t a problem IF the reader views individual posts on the post-specific url because the comment entry form appears there just fine along with all the approved of comments (if any), but for anyone arriving at my blog via the home page, since they can view the most recent posts in their entirety on the main page, it’s rather un-intuitive for them to try to access those posts a second time either from the archive page or by clicking on the post-title to find out whether or not comments are permitted and where/how to post them.
Can anyone tell me whether I somehow wiped out this function – or, if has nothing to do with my customization, then is there a way that I can Add in that function (i.e. a prominent “COMMENT” button added to the bottom of each post (and better yet, a field next to it showing the number of comments already added to that post) ?
Much thanks in advance. My blog is at: http://www.icondoit.wordpress.com/

Unfortunately, I can’t give you any CSS guidance, but I can give you an unrelated tip: you’ll want to reduce the total number of categories and tags on your posts to fewer than 15 or so on any individual post. More than that can get you deleted from the global tag pages, which has many severe negative effects, particularly in SEO.

The comment link is there, right in the metadata below the post. It is right after the date.
Since all that stuff is controlled from one place in the (.meta) there isn’t really much you can do about it.

Silly me. I think my eyes must be suffering from something akin to repetitive-movement injury from staring at the monitor for so dang long! (or is it my mind that’s on the blink?) In any case, thanks for the pointer, While I couldn’t seem to isolate just the word COMMENT by using CSS, I was able to manipulate the (.meta) to a slim degree and so by removing all but one category from my posts, it makes tha COMMENT link much more obvious.
As to raincoaster’s comment, I took your suggestion and actually got rid of most of the categories as they were really redundant of my tags and not of much use to me anymore since switching themes. As to slimming down the tags to 15 or less, I’m curious about this advice as I was always under the impression that the more tags you have (which are actually relevant to your posts) the better chance it’ll get found by someone using a search engine since it’s hard to anticipate exactly how they may word their searches. Who or where is the best authority on such strategy? It seems that there are so many conflicting opinions and I’m really a neophyte when it comes to SEO.
TIA
