Styles for Crowdsignal Poll
-
So the way I would do it is to choose the option “Working Female” in the Poll Style section of the Edit Poll page, click the Save Poll button, and then reload the page containing the poll. If it doesn’t change immediately, try reloading the page again a few minutes later.

Hi @musicdoc1
Ok, tried that, got a feeling Ive ‘tripped’ up somewhere as I picked the working female, set the questions but all I got then was:
So the bottom one was the one I have just done, but as you see, its just a normal poll box and not the working female I picked which is why I said I think I have tripped up somewhere….
At this moment I have refreshed several times but still have the preview I show above. I will continue to refresh to see if anything happens, but I don’t hold out much hope at the moment ☹
It cant be Windows 10 can it….?

I’m confused now. Is there more than one “Working Female” style?
-
Sorry, I hadn’t noticed that there are two polls in the image that you provided the link to above. So, you attempted to assign the “Working Female” style to the poll titled “New Poll,” is that correct? If so, I haven’t an explanation for why it didn’t show. Had you assigned that style to the top one previously?
-
Yeah, I don’t know what’s happening. I am just having a play albeit via my pad which is showing exactly like my ipad is.
I’m adding ‘New Poll’ then do my choices, then choose ‘Working Female’ and then I choose ‘Save’ BUT when I check via preview not only is the ‘working female’ not there but my title has gone 🙁
Ive had the working female at the desk before which is why I wanted to choose it again.
Could it be I’m using windows 10 as I have a feeling with this being a new laptop my old laptop would have done the poll of the working female..?
I know I cant understand why this isn’t working and its a shame as I like doing polls for research purposes.
Really hope you can work @musicdoc1 🙏🏻
-
Just clarifying too:
Ive had the working female at the desk before which is why I wanted to choose it again.
That particular style is retired, so while musicdoc1’s workarounds might work, we can’t make any promises.
Also since the bulk of this thread is about the design in Crowdsignal, do you mind if we split the thread and give it an appropriate title for that?

I don’t think the Windows version is a factor, but I may be wrong. A more likely culprit I think would be browser settings. As I mentioned earlier, it doesn’t work for me in Firefox because of my browser settings there. I used Google Chrome instead to avoid the necessity of changing the browser settings on FF before and after testing.

Thanks @supernova, and yes that was a good idea to change the thread title now lol.
So you are saying that image is retired….I have to say thats a little unfair for people who like that image, for me you have to consider everyone not just the few. That is just my opinion.
Ok, back to the original problem. @Musicdoc1 I dont use Firefox I use google chrome and it doesn’t work in there either.
I have just noted a bad grammar mistake earlier, let me apologise for that – I said I was using the iPad currently rather than the ipad – I meant the laptop – sorry!
SO I’m not familiar with browser settings…..what do I have to do?

Sorry, I don’t really know exactly what settings will make it work for you. On Firefox, where I can’t see the polls at all, my privacy settings are quite strict. A message warning that a setting I’ve chosen in FF “may cause some websites to not display content or work correctly” and previous experience tell me that some of the privacy options I’ve chosen on FF are most likely the reason that the polls to not display.
On the other hand, I seldom use Google Chrome and I’ve probably left the privacy options more or less at the default settings, which are evidently less strict than the settings I’ve chosen on the Firefox browser.
-
Right, ok, I understand that. I’m totally unsure of what the problem is. I will check settings to see how that looks and take it from there…….
Will keep you updated.
-
Ok @Musicdoc1 here is a screencap of my browser settings on my laptop……I’ve actually unclicked the boxes, so whether that works now I haven’t tried, I just wanted to show you a screencap of my browser settings.
-
Those settings won’t actually affect this in any way, they just set the default browser and search engine for your computer.
It sounds like you’re blocking third-party cookies, and you can check on that by following the steps at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/issue-with-blocking-third-party-cookies-f91209bd-0104-2446-61be-d2e4d7da64da
-
I followed the microsoft instructions, It said ‘set your choice’ no idea what choice that has to be, so clicked cleared but so far no images it just says ‘New poll’ again like in my screencap above
It seems we have hit a brick wall, I am not technically savvy so no idea of whats next but I do know this for a start that its not working, and I have no idea of why, whether it is windows 10 or cookies which I have looked at.
I know it is spoiling my poll experience as I am picking the ‘Working female’ yet all I am getting is ‘New Poll’ and very basic.
Any other ideas please?

I believe you’ve indicated that you’re using Google Chrome on Windows 10. The link provided by staff-blorbo is for the Microsoft Edge browser, so that wouldn’t help you on Chrome at all. If you’re still wanting to do this on Google Chrome, then see the Google support page Clear, enable, and manage cookies in Chrome, and scroll down to the section “Change your cookie settings,” and pay particular attention to its subsections “Allow or block cookies” and “Allow or block cookies for a specific site.”
-
Hi @Musicdoc1 yeah I did note it was the Microsoft Edge browser……yes I do still want to do it via chrome so will try that and get back to you 😃
-
Ok @Musicdoc1 I have followed all the instructions on google chrome and deleted all cookies and allowed cookies etc
However NOW Im not even allowed to attempt to do a pol via the classic editor like I was before AND I dont even have the choice of the working female etc
All I am now getting is redirected to the horrible new block section and simple poll like this:
SO is it Windows 10 or what as I feel as though we are trying everything and getting absolutely nowhere and I simply dont understand why
Thanks @Musicdoc1 and everyone else giving their help

There was a recent update on WordPress.com called Unified Navigation that is probably responsible for that redirection. To get back to the Classic Editor, follow the directions in the How to Access the Classic Editor section of the Classic Editor support page.
I just created a new poll with the Block Editor, and got something similar to the poll you linked to in the previous post. There’s an option for using Crowdsignal to create polls in the Block Editor, but I haven’t tried it yet. The successful results that I’ve described in previous posts here were obtained using the WP-Admin editor.

Hi there @Musicdoc1 yeah I have done the updates unfortunately which is probably having this problem.
Ok Cheers ill give it a try and let you know. So do you think Ill ever be able to see the graphics….? My next step is to actually get rid of windows 10 and buy windows 7 and install that!
